XploSafe Technology

Nanometric Ink Technology

Nanometric Ink Technology  is based on water-based nanoparticulate suspensions to form “inks” of a dark blue material that rapidly turn colorless or pale yellow when they come in contact with improvised explosives that contain peroxides (e.g. TATP, HMTD, hydrogen peroxide plastic explosive) or chlorates.  The inks are fashioned into a variety of products including test strips (XploSens TS), sterile capillary tests (XploSens ST), explosive detection kit (XploSens KT) and in future will be incorporated as sensor spots for airport screening bags.

Solvent Protection Technology

Solvent Protection Technology is based on non-protic reagent for prevention of peroxide formation in all classes of solvents.  It is a dark blue reagent that reacts with peroxides to form a colorless compound.  We envision utilizing this technology in the form of pellets (XPell) that react with and neutralize the threat of peroxides in chemical solvents.

Area Sensor Technology

An area sensor is being developed using technology based on electro-chromic bronze films that are highly sensitive to vapors of strong oxidants and improvised explosives.  Preliminary work documented a readily-observed response to hydrogen peroxide vapors at the part-per-billion level.  The sensor can detect traces of improvised explosives or improvised explosive precursors that might result from handling or manufacture of improvised explosives or which might be leaking from insufficiently sealed containers or might be present as external contamination of the containers that occurs as they are being filled.
